As the year 2010 comes to a close i pay rich tributes to REAL LIFE HERO, the true Khalsa of the modern era, Sardar Jaspal Singh Ji who was beheaded in Pakistan on February 20th 2010 by the Taliban militias.

Sardar Jaspal Singh Ji was kidnapped from the tribal areas of Pakistan and his family was asked to pay 20 million Pakistani Rupees for his release. Neither his family nor the tiny Sikh population of Pakistan could collectively pay such a huge amount of money for his safe release.  So, Sardar Jaspal Singh Ji was given two alternatives by the Taliban to choose from either he convert to Islam or else face execution. But the brave Jaspal Singh Ji happily faced martyrdom.

He showed and proved to the whole world that brave Sikhs were not only in the Guru’s time but they are even present today.  He got martyred at a time when Sikhs around the globe are facing an identity crisis and many have even abandoned their faith.

But this Shaheed’s ashes are still hot, and I am sure from the ashes of Shaheed Jaspal Singh Ji, SIKHISM WILL RISE AGAIN,

“LIKE A PHOENIX”.
