Actually the question is not framed properly. Anyone can eat meat.

Question should be- Is it right for Sikhs to eat meat? or Can meat eating be justified by Sikhs?

Second thing I want to put up before moving forward, cleverly picking up such a topic and then expecting a yes / no answer to it is a mistake by itself.

As Nanak Says...any True can become False at a moment & and any False can be True at other moment ..except one ..The Lord is the only TRUTH.
(that is the literal meaning of Sat Nam)

So a well to do person eating meat in some restaurant/home is surely going against d rules. Not only against the rules of Sikhism but also against the rules of Moral Humanity. ( those who want i can explain the latter part of sentence to them separately)

But a soldier in a battlefield or posted in a far flung area or people stuck at such a place..where to survive meat is the only option. He is NOT doing anything opposite to what is required to be done. He can eat meat.

Sikh history is full to support the above two statements. If interested I would explain them. because things that can be explained in a line, I see no point in writing a paragraph on them.
