Welcome to New to Sikhi community
I am an unbaptised Sikh. My parents are still unable to recognize my decision to convert to Sikhism from Christianity, and I'm tired of waiting for their approval. I worry it will never come. I am a light skinned, blonde haired and blue eyed woman, and I would like to wear the turban. I bought a white one over a week ago. I am concerned about how my parents will react when they see me wearing one. (For the record, I am 21 years old and I have been living on my own for two years, so I know this shouldn't matter, but I concider myself family-oriented.) Have you been in this position or do you know anyone who has? What did they do?

If you look from top all religions look different but if you go deep in then you will find that all religions are same, peace :)

I would recommend you take things at a pace you feel comfortable with. If you feel wearing a turban now is something you are confident about, then by all means do so. From my personal experience, when I started to wear a turban I got a lot more looks than I did without. I was asked about why I wore it, its significance, history, etc. It's important to be prepared for these types of questions and provide logical, accurate, and rational explanations. Whatever decision you make, just make sure you're absolutely confident in it :).
How come I missed this thread?
It's more than a month since you posted this... How is it going for you?
First of all, congratulations on making such big decision and hope it goes smooth for you.....
I'd like to believe that your parents will support you. It might be a shock to them (or not) but please never give up.....
If you have any suggestions or would like to report something or someone, please send me a message here.
